25 years after its construction, The National Noh Theatre has developed even more of an atmosphere about it. One of the services added in the past 25 years, limited to performances planned by the National Noh Theatre, is English subtitling on the monitors in front of each seat. This is an extremely helpful service for those new to Noh or foreign members of the audience, and preparing the subtitles for a one-time performance is something mostly impossible for private organizers, and can only be offered by the government. This time, we are going to have a look at the various places recommended by Shigeru Kobayashi (Hazama Corporation Ltd.’s Former Site Director for the National Noh Theatre Construction Project), who was involved in the construction, while listening to his commentary. The photo tour includes rare shots of the gakuya, kagami no ma and other areas not typically open to the public. *Click on the photos to enlarge Through the Entranceway to the National Noh Theatre
