Moaning with grief, the innkeeper tells the itinerant monk about Tomonaga’s final moments.

The monk accepts the innkeeper’s offer to stay at the inn.

That evening, the itinerant monk and his attendant together hold a memorial service for Tomonaga, invoking the bodhisattva Kannon.

Sensing the compassionate mourning of the itinerant monk, the ghost of Tomonaga appears.

The ghost describes the fierce battle between the Minamoto and the Taira.

Tomonaga reveals his final moments, taking his own life before the enemy can strike. He asks the monk to pray for him and disappears.
