Costumes Shite In the first half of the program: tops and bottoms of suō (A long-sleeved unlined hemp kimono with matching top and bottom worn by male characters), kitsuke / dan-noshime (short-sleeved kimono with very wide stripes, worn as the innermost layer of the costumes of male characters of lesser standing), a small sword, and a fan. In the second half of the program: shishi-gashira (a headdress in the form of a lion’s head), atsuita karaori worn in tsubo-ori style (a type of short-sleeved kimono mainly worn by male characters) (taken off later), hakama in ōkuchi-style (white), kitsuke / dan-noshime, koshi-obi (belt), a small sword, and a fan.
Waki Kake-suō (tops of suō), hakama in ōkuchi-style (white), kitsuke / atsuita, koshi-obi, a small sword, a fan, and a sedge rain hat.
Tsure Kazura (wig), kazura-obi (band for a wig), iro-nashi karaori (a short-sleeved kimono outer robe with no scarlet in patterns, worn by female characters), kitsuke / surihaku (short-sleeved kimono, worn as the innermost layer of the costume of a female character), and a cane. They occasionally wear a mizugoromo (a type of knee-length kimono) in the later part of the scene.
